New Guide Published: Securing the Pensão de Invalidez at Segurança Social in 2026
Overnight on Friday, The Portugal Brief published the latest entry in the 2026 Segurança Social pension series — a practical guide to the Pensão de Invalidez (Disability Pension) under Decreto-Lei 187/2007. The walkthrough covers the five-year prazo de garantia for relative invalidity (three years for absolute invalidity), the medical assessment by the Comissões de Verificação de Incapacidade Permanente (CVIP), the €493.52 minimum monthly floor, and the 150-day administrative window for the first payment after a successful claim. It is the third pension-track guide on the site this week, following the Pensão de Velhice and Pensão de Sobrevivência walk-throughs.
Lusodescendants Association Petitions Assembleia da República for a Distinct Dia do Lusodescendente Outside the 10 June Camões/Comunidades Calendar
The Associação Internacional dos Lusodescendentes (AILD, International Association of Lusodescendants) has filed a formal request with the Foreign Affairs and Portuguese Communities Committee of the Assembleia da República seeking audiences with every party group to push for a standalone Dia do Lusodescendente. AILD president Gilda Pereira disclosed the move on Saturday 6 June, four days before the country marks the 10 June Dia de Portugal. The association's pitch enshrines a sociological distinction between traditional emigration (framed around departure) and lusodescendência (inherited identity by individuals born and raised abroad to a Portuguese parent, grandparent or great-grandparent). AILD asked for commemorative recognition rather than feriado status, which would otherwise require Council of Ministers classification and DGERT consultation.
Grupo Impresa Anchors Tribeca Festival Lisboa on Avenida da Liberdade Through 2028 — December 9-13 Edition Drops the Beato Industrial Hub for Cinema São Jorge, Tivoli BBVA and Capitólio
Grupo Impresa, Tribeca Enterprises and the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (CML, Lisbon City Council) announced on Friday 5 June at a New York press conference a three-year extension of the Tribeca Festival Lisboa partnership through 2028. The 2026 edition migrates from the Hub Criativo do Beato to the Avenida da Liberdade central artery, compressing to a five-day window from 9 to 13 December. Tribeca co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Enterprises CEO Rebecca Glashow, and Grupo Impresa chairman Francisco Pedro Balsemão fronted the announcement. The 2026 line-up spreads across Cinema São Jorge, Tivoli BBVA (formerly Teatro Tivoli) and Capitólio, with a stronger free-of-charge component flagged for the public.
ERSE Locks the Mercado Regulado Natural-Gas Tariff at +6.4% for the October 2026 to September 2027 Gas Year — Two-Adult Household Bill Climbs €0.91 a Month and Four-Member Family Picks Up €1.62
The Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE, Energy Services Regulatory Authority) confirmed on Monday 1 June a 6.4% increase in the regulated-market natural-gas tariff for the gas year running from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027. The headline figure lands four-and-a-half times the 1.5% adjustment of the prior year and is the steepest mercado-regulado uplift since the 2022-2023 energy-price spike. ERSE attributes the move to firming wholesale prices on the Iberian MIBGAS hub linked to Middle East supply uncertainty and lower European storage carry-over. A type-1 two-adult household sees a €0.91/month increment to a €17.38 bill; a type-2 four-member family adds €1.62 to a €32.53 bill. The Tarifa Social discount of 31.2% applies on the new base.
DGCP's Sunday 7 June Deadline for the 2025 Relatório Único Tightens on Portuguese Employers — Six-Annex Filing Closes the State-Wide Labour-Data Capture Window for 2.4 Million Workers
Portuguese employers have until midnight on Sunday 7 June to deliver the 2025 reference-year Relatório Único (RU, Single Annual Labour Report) to the Direção-Geral de Coordenação e Planeamento (DGCP). The deadline was pushed back one week from the statutory 31 May floor, after DGCP flagged constraints during the data-collection window. The RU is a Lei 105/2009 obligation that binds every employer with at least one dependent worker — six annexes cover the staff table, worker flows, vocational training, occupational health and safety service activity, strikes, and outsourced service providers. The DGCP advised against last-48-hour filing as the portal historically buckles under load. Non-filing is a contraordenação muito grave with fines from €2,040 to €61,200.
Charlie Rotates to Delta on 1 July as ANEPC Scales DECIR to 15,149 Operationals and 81 Aerial Means — UCPM Pre-Positions 60 EU Firefighters and Two Aircraft in Portugal From 16 July to 31 August
Portugal's Dispositivo Especial de Combate a Incêndios Rurais (DECIR) steps up from Charlie-level to Delta-level on Tuesday 1 July, taking the firefighting envelope from 13,335 to 15,149 operationals, the vehicle pool to 3,463 units across 2,596 teams, and aerial means from 78 to 81 aircraft — Portugal's largest summer footprint to date. Delta runs through 30 September under the Despacho 2031/2026 framework. The operational stack draws from Bombeiros Voluntários, ANEPC's FEPC, the GNR's GIPS sapper unit, the PolÃcia MarÃtima, and ICNF's sapadores florestais. The European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) pre-positions in Portugal between 16 July and 31 August two light fire-suppression aircraft and 60 EU firefighters, drawn from the rescEU reserve and embedded inside the ANEPC operational chain.
Ministério Público Lodges the Football Leaks Appeal at the Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa — 241-Count Acquittal of Rui Pinto Heads Back for Reformulação on the Computer-Access Distinctions Between Investigations
The Ministério Público (MP, Public Prosecutor's Office) lodged its appeal brief at the Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa (TRL) on Monday 1 June against the second-instance acquittal of Portuguese hacker Rui Pinto on 241 informatic-crime counts in the Football Leaks complex. The 700-page motivação, signed by procuradores Vera Camacho and André Ribeiro da Silva, contests the JuÃzo Central Criminal de Lisboa's collapse of multiple discrete investigations into a single act-of-access bucket and the consequent invocation of ne bis in idem. The MP wants the TRL to recognise four legally autonomous computer-access events targeting Doyen Sports, the Sporting SAD systems, a banking file deposit and a law-firm-server access. A TRL decision is expected in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027.
