Portugal Nearing Energy Crisis Declaration
Environment Minister Maria da Graca Carvalho said Portugal is "approaching the criteria" to formally declare an energy crisis, as the Middle East conflict drives oil and gas prices higher across Europe. The government approved legislation on Thursday enabling it to cap energy prices below cost for consumers and businesses if a crisis is declared.
